The challenges of remaking places - whether
city, town or country - are set in the context of accelerating climate
change.
4x4 2006
will bring a mix of international and regional contributors to investigate
and present issues, solutions and design under the overall heading -
International Green .
The 4 weeks will be themed around the four elements of Air, Earth, Fire
and Water.
Contributions will include topics such as designing with land forms,
food policy, eco-cites in China, creative urban art in Cuba, carbon
neutrality in Germany, new water projects in Yorkshire, energy sources
and systems and innovative design solutions.
These will be presented by people actively engaged in delivering projects
and driving policy.
4x4 making places provides space for both presentation and debate.
The 4x4 making places
forum is to be held in March 2006. This will be its sixth year
with the working title of International Green!
4x4
will take place in Leeds on Thursday evenings on March 2, March 9, March
16 and March 23 beginning at 6.00pm. The format is for 4 speakers each
week with a chairperson, followed by debate. Attendees are from across
the region and include professionals, developers, administrators, politicians,
students, citizens, and more. Based on previous years we can expect
to get over 300 people to each evening.
4x4 making places
is a unique forum and is supported by Yorkshire Forward, Concourse,
CABE, The Arts Council for England, Leeds Initiative, English Heritage,
and many other organisations.
4x4
is CPD accredited with all RIBA, RTPI, ICE, RICS, Landscape Institute,
